Five for Friday-Pumpkins

I am linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

This week we learned all about pumpkins.

1.We counted out pumpkin seeds.  You can get the pumpkin counting mats from Karen at prekinders.

2. The two poems we practiced this week were 5 Little Pumpkins song by Raffi and our color Orange song.

We also read and colored the 5 Little Pumpkins book from Karen. You can get that here.

3. Our OT had the kids pretend to be "ghosts" as they got in the body sock. They had to stretch and reach out their hands, practiced kicking with the resistance and rolling. They all had a great time in it!

4. We made puffy pumpkins. The students used Kleenex, shaving cream, and orange paint to make these spongy feeling pumpkins. We had the students use tweezers to put the messy mixture on the pumpkin.

We also made pumpkins with the pulp and seeds inside. We used yarn and pumpkin seeds.

5. Also, if you get the Let's Find Out magazine and even if not they have some great short video clips. We read and watched the one about pumpkins this week and the kids got a kick out of the video of the pumpkins being used as boats and also how the pumpkins grow. You can check it out here.

Have a great weekend! We are off to go camping and do some trick or treating around the campground tomorrow night. It should be a lot of fun. Hopefully it just doesn't rain!
