Doodle Bugs Teaching

I must admit...I am happy it is the weekend! My kids were off the wall today and overall it was an overwelming week. Fortunately there is only one week left before break.

This week was all about the holidays. Here are a few things we did:

1. With the am I practiced one to one correspondence and with the pm they had to count out the erasers when given a number. You can the Santa's Sleigh Drop from From the Pond.

The kids got to practice decorating the present. I did not add any wrapping paper as the kids would probably tear it off.
We counted out ornaments as well. You can get the trees from prekinders.

2. We made torn paper trees.

3. We have been learning lots of poems.
This is 5 Little Trees.

This is Here Comes Santa

This is the visuals for the song Here Comes Santa.

 4. We also practiced some visual discrimination.

This file folder game is from

We also played Erin's

We practiced the saying the Christmas words and the kids had fun using the bingo stampers as they always do!

5. Two random things...our cute marble painted Gingerbread Men.

And here is an easy way to make bells...a plastic plate, bells, and we attached the bells with twist ties.

Have a great weekend! We are going to be busy with cookie decorating, finishing up Christmas shopping, and hopefully the snow they keep predicting will come so we can play in the snow!

Michelle at Fabulous in First has a fun holiday questionnaire.

Hot Chocolate or Eggnog?
Definitely hot chocolate. I have tried eggnog and I just don't care for it. I love my hot chocolate with some marshmallows and whip cream.

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them underneath the tree?
Santa definitely wraps the presents! Growing up all of the gifts were never put under the tree until we were fast asleep. Part of that may be because of our dog loving to get into things, as well as, my brother. My husband's family isn't really into the holidays at all so we have continued this tradition with Ethan and will with Baby M.

Colored lights or white?
I love colored lights! I like all the colors and vibrance. I will say though that I consider white lights more sophisicated.

When do you decorate?
Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving. Lately it is just whenever there is time as things get so busy!

Real or Fake Tree?
Real. Growing up we would just go to the local flower nursery and get a tree, but with Matt we have started the traditon of cutting down a tree at a local tree farm. It is a lot of fun! I definitely recommend trying it at least once.

What Tops Your Tree?
If ever in MI you will need to visit Bronner's in Frankenmuth. It is the world's largest Christmas store. Last weekend, we went and took Ethan (quite an overwelming experience for him!) and we picked out a new glittery star.

Favorite Christmas Memories or Traditions?
Every year my mom gets a cheese danish and we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. We started it when we were little as a way for us, kids to understand Christmas, but even as we grew older it is just something we do and something I have continued with Ethan. I am excited for it this year as Ethan loves to sing and is understanding the holiday more.

What is your favorite Christmas song?
I love the up beat ones. I like Jingle Bell Rock and more traditional music.

Candy Canes. Yuck or Yum?
Yum. I love candy canes and now talking about them is making me crave one...

Favorite Christmas movie?
I love Christmas still makes me laugh out loud and Charlie Brown's Christmas. Ethan loves this movie this year, which makes me even enjoy it more!

Do you shop online or at stores?
Both...if I can get it in the store that is what I prefer, but sometimes the deals are too good to pass up online and with Ethan it is a little less stressful.

Photo Cards, Letter or Store Bought Card?
Photo cards. I love seeing the kids get bigger and since having Ethan we have started sending photo cards as some of our family we don't get to see as often as we'd like.

Have a great rest of the week!

Is anyone else having a mild freak out as Christmas is only 2 weeks away and I have like nothing ready?! Yikes! I have quite a bit to do (bake cookies, finish shopping, and finish getting everything ready at school before break comes) and I realized last night how soon it was going to be here! I just need to remember to breathe and everything will get done.

Anyways, after having many of these mostly done I got around to finishing them tonight. I know many of you are going on break in the next week, but hopefully you can use them or save them for next year.

We are going to be having a pajama day and reading The Polar Express. Here is an emergent reader that is a great supplement to it.

What's Inside the Box? Game

I also have posted three Christmas Finger Poems with props for $1 in tpt and tn

Now for a Holiday linky that I thought would be fun to join in.

Hope over at Second Grade Shenanigans is hosting this holiday linky.

Normally, my list mostly consists of clothes, but being pregnant this year I do not have any clothes on there this year because I have enough maternity clothes for now.

Anyways, this list is pretty small:
A scotch laminator

 An ipad pen stylus

 Cricut font cartidges

That's it this year. The big thing is for the baby's room to be completed. I can't wait to find out and start decorating!

Have a great rest of the week!

It is hard to believe there are only two more weeks until school is done. It is also only two more weeks from tomorrow that we get to find out if we are having a little boy or girl! I plan on buying the comfort set that day as a Christmas present to our baby to be.

Anyways, here is a little reindeer poem freebie for you all. I have a few more holiday goodies that I am going to try to post this week as I finish them stay tuned!

Classroom Freebies Manic Monday

Now for some Lions football. The snow is coming down in Philadelphia, which is going to make for a fun game to watch! (I must admit I am ready for some snow here in MI too). Have a great Sunday!
