1. Well, I am back at work. This week we did and are going to be finishing up our preschool screener. It is fun to see all the little preschoolers come into school. Most of them are excited and eager to get started.

2. I am part of a big sp. ed blog hop with a freebie and a giveaway that is going to be happening on Tuesday. Make sure to stay tuned for more details coming soon!

3. I am finishing up a Number Wizards Activities and should have it posted at the end of this week.

4. Ethan has started playing soccer. Parents go on the field with the little ones and help them.  It is fun to watch him (although I think he enjoys the water breaks the most...lol).

5. We also have tackled potty training the last couple of weeks. Ethan is doing pretty good, but we have not ventured out of the house yet. I think we are going to start trying to take a few small, short trips and see how he does. Wish us luck!

Hi! My name is Kate and I am 30-something wife, mom, teacher, and blogger. This is my fifth year teaching ECSE and I taught three years of Kindergarten before that.

Here is a pic of my wonderful family! Matt, Ethan, and Madi.

So now for some questions and answers.

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

My kids. Working out. Running. Starbucks. Target. Bright colors. Blogging & blog stalking. Jeans. Traveling. Netflixing (my fav right now is Orange is the New Black). Audrey Hepburn.

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
I think I'd like to be a clothing designer, but my drawing isn't that good.

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.
Loyal. Driven. Compassionate.

FINISH THE SENTENCE, "________,  SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!"

"I love writing up IEPs...said no teacher EVER!!"

Q: IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?

Audrey Hepburn. She was beautiful and had the kindest heart.

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?

Rhianna's Umbrella.

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?

Definitely morning person. I cannot sleep in ever, which works out well because Matt is a night owl so we are able to tackle the kids easier.

I am loving my new Zoo unit right now. Zoo-ilicious Math and Literacy Activities.
Zoo-ilicious Literacy and Math Activities for Pre-K and

Q: SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!
I ran in college. Go Lake State! Those years were definitely my most favorite years of my life because of all the fun friends and shenanigans that we got into.

Today is the last day of summer for me. It is bittersweet as I am ready to go back (since I've been off since April), but I am also going to miss my Ethan and Madi like crazy! It is almost harder going back this time as I have been home a lot longer and we have fallen into a routine, whereas, with Ethan I was back to work after 5.5 weeks.

Anyways, I had a request to share the hw calendar we are going to be using this year. All of the homework items are geared towards our report card and IEP goals. Parents will be expected to complete one task/ skill a day with their child (this should only take 5 minutes). They are also asked to mix it up and not do the same skill every week day. The calendar is kept with their monthly behavior chart and at the end of the month this calendar will be collected along with the behavior calendar.

Here is September. My partner and I haven't made anything past this yet, but once I do I will be sure to share it!

After a relaxing weekend up north for a wedding I had to be super productive today and the weather has helped with that! (It is raining and suppose to all day long!). I went into my classroom and finished setting up and made copies. My sister came and helped watch the kids so I could get a lot done.

Here is a view from the door.

This is my bulletin board right next to the door. The first week of school we are going to sort good vs. sad choices and I am going to put that up next to the classroom rules.

Here is my new happy sticks chart and soon to be schedule (I have a few more pictures to make for it). I am actually going to be using this in a completely different way now. We are going to get magnets and put a picture of the kids on it and move them through the points. This way it is more of a visual for them as to what they are earning.

Here is my calendar area.

Our color poem.

Cabinets where reading, fine motor, and math manipulatives are kept.

Not a 100% sure what I am going to do with this board this year...

In the back I have placed file holders where I will put the activities I am going to do with my small group during centers. In the wipe containers are crayons and there is a scrap bin.

A view from the back. We got smartboards this year. I cannot wait to start exploring with it!

I am going to put my work task boxes here.

Now for a freebie. I have slowly been working on making more visual prompts with how to play with the toys in the classroom. You can get these visuals here.

And here are a few things I made today!

My behavior and homework calendars are together.

I also made a farm map for students to place the fences, barn, and animals. You can get the farm animal visuals here.  I plan on making more visuals and a story about how to use this as soon as I can.

Classroom Freebies Manic Monday

Last, but not least a new way to keep those visual cards you use all the time nearby. I added felt to my bulletin board and added velcro to the back of the common visuals I use throughout the day. This way they are kept all in one place and are accessible for everyone that comes into the classroom to help.

Whew! That was a lot! Well, thanks for reading if you made it this far! I hope you got some good ideas and have a great Monday!
